Jude McAtamney kicked two field goals in the New York Giants’ 21-18 win against Los Angeles Chargers at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday.

The former Derry gaelic footballer was activated from the practice squad on Saturday after veteran regular placekicker Graham Gano picked up an injury.

He kicked field goals from 22 and 31 yards and had an extra point successful kick too in an impressive display on his first start of the season.

McAtamney missed out on the 53-man active roster with the Giants after being waived at the start of the season.

Last season, McAtamney was also called from the practice squad into the Giants team for the regular season game against the Washington Commanders when Gano sustained an injury.

McAtamney, from Swatragh, kicked two points in his side’s 27-22 defeat, becoming the first Irish-born placekicker to feature in a regular NFL game since 1985.
