Cincinnati Bengals fans and NFL lovers in general have seen just about enough of Jake Browning after he struggled immensely yet again in a blowout loss to the Denver Broncos.

The Bengals have now lost both of Browning’s starts this season, and Monday night was particularly rough. That had fans around the NFL basically begging the team to consider trading for another option at the position like Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston:

It should be noted that Denver has a fantastic defense, and some of the online angst is surely coming from the fantasy community, aggrieved that Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are in danger of suffering major production dips.

But there are potentially real-world repercussions in persisting with Browning. Joe Burrow won’t be back anytime soon, and the 2-2 Bengals risk missing out on the playoffs yet again if the quarterback play doesn’t improve. Browning hasn’t inspired much hope that he’ll turn things around.

Trading for a quarterback midseason is hardly ideal, of course, and there’s a reason players like Cousins, Wilson and Winston find themselves as backups currently. None are saviors.

But they probably would be an upgrade over what Browning is currently offering, and that possibility alone should be enough for Cincy’s front office to make some calls this week.
