Fenerbahçe have set their sights on a late swoop for Marcus Rashford following their Champions League qualification.

As per The Times, the Turkish outfit are hoping to sanction the arrival of a ‘star player’ before the transfer deadline.

The forward is poised to rebuff any interest from Turkey in the closing stages of the window and is preparing to spend the full campaign back with his boyhood club, Manchester United.

He made his first competitive appearance for United since December 2024 when he was brought off the bench for the second half against Hull City last Saturday.

Rashford will be hoping he’s done enough to earn a start for the Reds’ clash with Ipswich Town on Sunday, where they will play in front of the Old Trafford faithful for the first time this term.

Rashford: The state of play after United reintegration

The 28-year-old is tied to United until June 2028, with his deal – worth £325,000-a-week – making him one of the highest earners in the squad.

Alas, it’s likely that INEOS will once again explore a sale for the academy graduate this time next year in order to shift his wages off the books, as well as avoid him leaving for nothing in two years’ time.

Any fee generated from Rashford’s departure would count as pure profit, hence why the club were so keen on offloading him this transfer window.

Yet, when Barcelona let his £26 million buy option expire and no suitors opted to activate his £40m release clause, United chiefs accepted that he would be staying put.

From Michael Carrick’s perspective, he’ll just be hoping the England international can replicate the form he displayed throughout his loan spell with the Blaugrana last season.
