Myles Garrett has claimed his first award as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. Garrett won the ESPY for “Best NFL Player” on Wednesday, July 15.

He was traded to Los Angeles after producing 23 sacks and winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award last season with the Cleveland Browns. Garrett is the first defensive player to win the ESPY award.

Garrett’s sack total was the most by any individual player in a single season since sack stats were officially tracked starting in 1982. He also had 43 solo tackles and forced three fumbles in 17 games played last season.

Chloe Kim and Myles Garrett- Top athletes, musicians and Hollywood stars will gather to recognize the best from the past year in sports on Wednesday, July 15 for ESPN’s 2026 ESPYs.

Hosted by comedian Marcello Hernandez, ESPN’s annual sports awards show brings together people from across the sports landscape to celebrate the top athletes, plays and moments from the last year. Traditionally held in Los Angeles, the awards show was moved to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York this year.

People who have made significant contributions to their sport and community are also honored with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage, the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, the Pat Tillman Award for Service and the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award.

The Rams traded edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick to the Browns in exchange for Garrett.

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, Seattle Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Maye led the Patriots to the Super Bowl last season, becoming the second-youngest starting quarterback to play in the championship game. Smith-Njigba was the Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 1,793 receiving yards and helped lead the Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory.

At 37-years old, Stafford was named the NFL MVP after leading the league in passing yards (4,707) and touchdowns (46) during the 2025 regular season.
