In a new court filing, lawyers for Madison Square Garden show in email correspondences that changes to Charles Oakley’s manuscript made by his lawyer alter his version of the night that he was forcibly removed from the arena.

The documents, filed on Monday, show emails from Oakley’s attorney Douglas Wigdor, in which he alters the manuscript of Oakley’s autobiography, ‘The Last Enforcer.’

In one passage, the email shows that Oakley originally wrote that he “never should have touched” MSG security.

The wording was changed by Wigdor to state, “Security started grabbing at me and it made me uncomfortable. I didn’t know what was going to happen. I am not a violent person but there were so many guys in front of me and both sides and I needed to defend myself so something really bad didn’t happen to me.”

In that same section, the emails show that Oakley originally wrote, “I slipped,” in the manuscript. The email also shows that the phrase was changed to, “I was eventually pushed down by Dolan’s guys and ended up on my back.”

The filing is the latest update in a civil suit between Oakley and Madison Square Garden. The case has been dismissed twice and is being heard by a court of appeals.
