NASCAR is racing it’s 3rd road/street course setup of the 2026 season, and this time around, they are doing it on a US Naval Base. The location? Naval Base Coronado in San Diego, California.
The goal for many is to beat the seemingly indestructible Shane van Gisbergen. The man with a 50% win rate (7-for-14) has been dominant on road-course setups. He proves so by earning pole position for the Andruil 250, which can be watched on Sunday, June 21, at 4:00 p.m. on Prime.

Good and Bad Takeaways
-
Shane van Gisbergen ran his fastest lap at 0.156 seconds quicker than the second-lace qualifier, Carson Hocevar. He was at least 0.600 seconds better than all but two drivers (Hocevar, Blaney). Van Gisbergen is a massive favorite to win the race.
-
Zane Smith and Todd Gilliland deliver strong Front Row Motorsports performances, posting 4th- and 5th-place qualifying results, respectively.
-
Connor Zilisch, the other ‘road course ringer’ in the Cup Series, qualified in 8th place while he practiced 4th best on Friday.
-
Christopher Bell battled a broken wrist and will be closely monitored, with Brent Crews on driver standby should Bell be unable to race. He qualified 37th/39.
-
Jimmie Johnson races his 2nd-to-last Cup Series race ever, and he will start in 36th.
