First, the Cup Series needs to qualify for the event in Talladega, and the qualifying format is simple. Every driver makes a single-lap run in the first round, which will determine the 10 competitors moving on to the final round. Then, those drivers will fight it out to set the top 10 spots. The metric system determines the qualifying order and groups.
