The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series enters the final 10 races of the regular season with the Charbroil 300 on May 23 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The series will have several off weekends sprinkled throughout the summer and have not had a weekend off since before Daytona in February. That adds importance to each race going forward, starting with this weekend at the 1.5-mile oval.

Entering Charlotte, 31 points separate 9th-place Sam Mayer from 14th-place Rajah Caruth in the points standings. 12 drivers will make the Chase in the fall.

Weather has been a factor all weekend; O’Reilly Auto Parts Series practice and qualifying was canceled earlier on May 23, while the Cup Series managed only an abbreviated practice session. Rain remains in the forecast throughout the rest of the day.

The sport is reeling after the death of Kyle Busch on May 21. Busch, among his many career accomplishments, is the all-time career wins leader in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series with 102 victories.
