Last weekend at Dover, Corey Day won in the No. 17 car for Hendrick Motorsports, with Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer, William Sawalich, and Austin Hill rounding out the top five. Allgaier currently holds a commanding lead in the overall point standings with 679 points, with Sheldon Creed sitting in second with 504 points.
Last year’s race at this track was won by Cup Series driver William Byron in the car that Day now drives. Connor Zilisch, who is now in the Cup Series full-time, finished second while Nick Sanchez was third. Among current full-time NOAPS drivers, Allgaier had the best finish in third.
Zilisch will be in the field for Saturday’s race in the JR Motorsports No. 1 car. Other Cup Series drivers in this field include Cole Custer and Ross Chastain
