NASCAR came to Martinsville Speedway this past weekend with a tripleheader between the Cup, O’Reilly Auto Parts, and Truck Series. As the weekend came and went, penalties had been awarded both small and large. The most notable occurrence involves Daniel Dye, following an off-track incident the week prior. Dye has left Kaulig Racing, slotting Corey LaJoie into the No. 10 car for the remainder of the season.

Kyle Busch, Justin Allgaier Endure Uncontrolled Tires
Both the No. 8 and No. 48 cars were handed penalties for uncontrolled tires on pit road, sending them to the rear of the field. Busch’s incident occurred with a wheel right in front of his car as he exited his pit stall. Busch did not see this wheel and thus drove into it, sending it flying.

Too Many Crew Members for John Hunter Nemechek
The No. 42 team of John Hunter Nemechek was penalized for having “too many crewmembers in contact with the pit service area.” That incident occurred on lap 108 and sent Nemechek to the rear.
Speeding on Pit Road
The No. 51 car of Cody Ware and the No. 47 car of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. were the speeders on pit road this weekend, both being sent to the rear. As non-contenders, this affected nothing.
NASCAR reinstates Daniel Dye
About two weeks ago, Dye was suspended from NASCAR after making offensive comments on a livestream. After serving his penalty and undergoing NASCAR’s protocols, Dye has been reinstated. However, Kaulig Racing has parted ways with Dye, and he now lacks any ride for the 2026 season. Corey LaJoie will drive the No. 10 RAM Truck for the remainder of the season.

Bonus Incident: Carson Hocevar is Wrecked by Bubba Wallace
On lap 324, Bubba Wallace got into Carson Hocevar on turn 4. It originally looked like Wallace may have throttled up into Hocevar when they met, but this has since been debunked. In tight quarters, incidents can easily happen as they did here. Wallace’s day ended early due to damage, while Hocevar finished 17th.
The incident did collect a bunch of other vehicles. No penalty is handed out for the unfortunate wreck.
