NASCAR Fans Praying For Toni Breidinger Before Friday's Race originally appeared on The Spun.
Just hours before the NASCAR Truck Series kicked off its race at Watkins Glen International, 26-year-old driver Toni Breidinger had scary news to share with her fans.
So far, Breidinger's first season in the Truck Series hasn't gone according to plan. She's currently 22nd in the standings without a single top-10 finish. Her best finish (18th) came at Rockingham in mid-April.
"Yeah, there’s honestly quite a bit of things that I was kind of surprised by this year," Breidinger told 5GOATs. "I knew the learning curve was going to be steep, and I knew that I had a lot to learn. But I don’t think I realized how much I was going to learn, how much I’m taking away. Like, after every race, I’m like wow, I feel like a new driver because I’ve learned so much. So, yeah, almost the unknown of I didn’t know how much new stuff I was going to learn. In so many different areas, from the tracks and the truck and the aero. Yeah, I’ve been learning a lot, and I’m like, I can’t believe I’ve been learning this much. Kind of crazy, but yeah."
While it's possible Breidinger will have a breakout performance at Watkins Glen, her Friday got off to a brutal start. She revealed on social media that people broke into her car and stole a suitcase loaded with her personal items.
"Anyone in the Ithaca NY area! My car was broken into last night, and my suitcase was stolen. It’s a custom Tumi suitcase with TB on it. Inside were personal items, including my 818 and Coach suits," Breidinger wrote on X. "If you happen to see a suitcase or my racing stuff that’s being sold on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Craigslist, or anywhere else, please send me the link."
NASCAR fans feel terrible for Breidinger, make no mistake about it. On the other hand, they're glad she wasn't harmed.
"Ugh I can't stand a thief! So sorry this happened to such a wonderful person," one fan said.
"I'm sorry for this, prayers from Atlanta," a second fan wrote.
Another fan replied, "People absolutely suck! I hope you get everything back!"
"Sorry Toni, u have to go through that. Hopefully, your items will be recovered soon," another social media user commented.
There's a very good chance whoever stole Breidinger's NASCAR gear will try to sell it online. For now though, she'll have to just focus on her upcoming Truck Series race.
Hopefully, Breidinger will get her personal belongings back later this weekend.
