While Carson Hocevar made fans hold their breath for a moment, it doesn’t appear NASCAR is going to ban his eccentric celebration. The new CEO of the sport, Steve O’Donnell, has weighed in himself and he appears to approve of it.
NASCAR has been in dire need of a moment like today. Hocevar is seen as the future of the sport, and coming off the win from Ty Gibbs, this is starting to feel like a turning point. The new stars are starting to take over. Throw Tyler Reddick in there as well.

Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic reports that the CEO says the celebration won’t be banned, so there you go. Maybe he’ll just be a little more careful next time?

When it is at its best, NASCAR is wild and unpredictable. Watching the lanky 23 year old figure out how to drive while hanging out of the window and then bump into the wall with a jolt was amazing. Every new addition to the celebration was a new twist that you couldn’t see coming.

You can’t deny that the fans didn’t love it. When was the last time you saw arms sticking through the fence at Talladega like a herd of zombies trying to break through? Hocevar got a reaction from the fans that few drivers can, and likely no other driver his age could possibly create.
A massive win for Hocevar, but also the sport as a whole. Let him celebrate however he wants and figure out the rest later. That’s essentially the spirit of NASCAR and if the new leadership is going to adhere to that attitude, then there are bright days ahead.
