With the NASCAR Cup Series set to resume in a few days, FOX analyst Kevin Harvick has unveiled his prediction for the Coca-Cola 600.
FOX’s Bob Pockrass reported Wednesday that the purse for the Coca-Cola 600 will be over $13.6 million. Last year, it was roughly $9.8 million. As of right now, Kyle Larson is the odds-on favorite to win at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Oddsmakers are also banking on strong performances from Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, William Byron and Tyler Reddick.
On the latest episode of “Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour,” he made it clear that he’s rolling with Byron for the Coca-Cola 600.
Byron is currently fourth in the Cup Series standings. A win this weekend would certainly help him climb up the leaderboard.
“600 miles. That’s a long ways,” Harvick said. “I’m going to go with William Byron.”
Harvick’s co-host, FOX reporter Kaitlyn Vincie, thought about picking Byron as well for the Coca-Cola 600. However, she’s going with Joey Logano.
“I almost picked him,” Vincie said. “I’m going with Logano. He strikes me as a driver that could — him and that team, they have what it takes, I think, to win that race. He’s already mad after what happened last week [at North Wilkesboro Speedway].”
Logano came in second place at the NASCAR All-Star Race, losing a tight race to Christopher Bell.
“I did all I could do to hold him off and he got under me and released the brake and gave me no option,” Logano told Fox Sports. “Kind of just ran me up into the wall, and if I could’ve got to him, he was going around after a move like that, I just couldn’t get back to him. Just too much to try to make up with the tire deficit. Just frustrated after you lead so many laps and the car is so fast and you don’t win, it hurts quite a bit.”
We’ll see if Harvick or Vincie end up making the right call for the Coca-Cola 600.
