After signing the deal, the Canadiens placed Lindstrom on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Laval Rocket.

Drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Lindstrom spent time last season with the Canadiens, Rocket and Anaheim Ducks. In four games with the Rocket, he was held pointless while putting up three goals and seven assists for 10 points in a combined 46 games between Montreal and Anaheim.

Since coming over to North America in 2019, Lindstrom has played in 174 career NHL regular season games, collecting five goals and 30 assists for 35 points.

If Lindstrom clears waivers, he will be an important part of the Rocket and potentially one of the first recalls in case of an injury. He hasn’t spent the majority of a season in the AHL since 2019-20 and should see time in the NHL in 2024-25.
