Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach birdied the 17th hole of the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y., on Sept. 24 to clinch a 2-up four-ball victory with Asterisk Talley over Sara Brentcheneff and Hugo Le Goff of France to help the U.S. take a 10-8 lead over Europe entering singles in the 13th Junior Ryder Cup.

Russell and Talley had halved a foursomes match the day before against the same European team.

The U.S. duo won the first four holes but Brentcheneff and Le Goff rallied late to cut the lead to one hole.

”Got off to a nice start and we didn’t really play poorly midway through,” Russell told a PGA of America website reporter. “We just didn’t give ourselves any looks and [the European team] made some birdies to make it right at the end.”

Miles Russell will play Le Goff again

Russell will see Le Goff again in singles on Sept. 25, beginning at 8:09 a.m. at the Nassau Country Club. Both will also be future ACC opponents: Russell has committed to Florida State and Le Goff to Virginia.
