Steve Cohen admitted to reporters this offseason that he was growing annoyed by the Mets’ lack of postseason winning during his ownership tenure.

That frustration only continued with the team’s disastrous start to this season, but he’s quickly grown past that and is ready to flip the page with an eye towards next year.

While the Mets still find themselves way outside the postseason picture, Cohen is happy with the direction the organization is headed down the stretch this season.

New York heads into Wednesday’s series finale 10-6 thus far in the month of August.

“There’s a lot of things to be excited about,” Cohen said Wednesday at Citi Field. “The development of our young players is significant, that creates a nice foundation, it would be great if we could get [Francisco] Lindor and [Juan] Soto on the field at the same time.

“We’ve had new players who have adjusted to New York and you can imagine them being much more comfortable next year, so I think there’s a lot to look forward to — I see the foundation of something I think we can get behind, but we’ll see how it goes.”

And it’s not just the big-league club that has Cohen hopeful for the future.

Though it’s still a small sample size, he’s also been encouraged by what he’s seen from the young talent David Stearns was able to bring to the organization during the trade deadline sell-off.

Two of them, Émilien Pitre and Billy Amick, are already just one step from the majors.

“They’ve looked pretty good over a short period of time,” Cohen said.

“When you look and see the value that we were able to get back, it’s lots of different types of players, which I think is kind of fun — it’s a great infusion of young talent into our organization, so I’m hoping that works out for us.”
