Left-handed pitcher Brooks Raley and the Mets have agreed to a one-year contract, pending a physical, according to a report from The New York Post’s Joel Sherman. The contract includes a team option for 2026.

The deal marks a reunion between both sides as Raley pitched for New York in 2023 and 2024 after the Mets got him in an offseason trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Following a successful first season in New York, the team exercised its club option on Raley for 2024, paying him $6.5 million. But after just eight appearances in 2024, the lefty went down with a UCL strain and elected to get Tommy John surgery.

Rehabbing since then, Raley threw for 13 teams last week, per Sherman. His doctors believe he can begin throwing in rehab games in June.

During his stint with the Mets, Raley had a 2.48 ERA in 74 games.

New York’s bullpen currently has two lefties in A.J. Minter and Danny Young. Minter, used as the setup man to closer Edwin Diaz so far this season, signed a two-year, $22 million contract in the offseason and owns a 1.74 ERA in 11 games.

Meanwhile, Young (more of a lefty specialist) has a 4.91 ERA (1.50 WHIP) in nine appearances this season and carries a $825,000 salary.
