ROCKWALL After moving up to a tie for sixth place halfway through the final round, the UTPB men’s golf team could not gain any more ground and ultimately finished out the 2025 Lone Star Conference Championship in a tie for eighth place after the stroke play portion of the event concluded on Tuesday afternoon at the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club.

UTPB (310-291-309; 910; +46) tied with Western New Mexico University (310-302-298; 910; +46) and was seven strokes behind seventh-place West Texas A&M University (307-297-299; 903; +39). As a team, UTPB was tied for seventh in par-5 scoring (4.95; -3), tied for eighth in par-3 scoring (3.25; +15), 10th in par-4 scoring (4.45; +68), was tied for second in total birdies (41) and was 10th in pars (134).
Will Tate (76-70-71; 217; +1) was UTPB’s top finisher, rising three more spots over the course of the final round to tie for fifth place and earn a spot on the LSC All-Tournament Team. Tate, who was previously named Second-Team All-LSC before the start of the tournament, shot one-under-par during the final round, was three-under over the course of the final two rounds, and was plus-one for the tournament overall. Tate was tied for second in the tournament in par-5 scoring (4.50; -6) and in total birdies (13).

Waase Iqbal (78-72-77; 227; +11) finished tied for 26th place, was plus-five during the final round and was plus-11 for the tournament. Iqbal was tied for seventh in the tournament with 10 birdies.

Thonsaeng Nunya (78-78-77; 233; +17) moved up two spots during the final round to finish in a five-player tie for 41st place. He matched Iqbal at plus-five during round three.

After combining to shoot plus-seven during the first two rounds, Ioan Rowe (78-73-86; 237; +21) ended in 51st place.

Juan Elias (86-76-84; 246; +30) took the final spot on the individual leaderboard (57th).

Oklahoma Christian’s Leandro Mihaich claimed the LSC Individual Championship with rounds of 74, 70 and 70 (-2) for a one-stroke victory over Philip Hallstrom of St. Mary’s and Samuel Jenkins of DBU. Oklahoma Christian (+7), St. Mary’s (+10), DBU (+18) and Midwestern State (+28) advance to the medal match round on Wednesday to decide the 2025 Lone Star Conference Champion.
