Liverpool have a lot of decisions to make over the next few months.
They may have spent a decent chunk of change during the summer transfer window but, with three replacements still available in their Champions League squad, there’s plenty of room for transfers to be made.

We’re also still early into the season so, as we get deeper, Andoni Iraola will gain more of an understanding about his first-team squad and the specific areas that he needs to upgrade.
But for now, he needs to figure out what his best team is and which of his fringe players can actually be of use to him and which ones need to be moved on.
Liverpool want at least €15 million for Federico Chiesa in January
Federico Chiesa has been a Liverpool player for the last two years.
When he was brought in, everyone thought that he’d be the perfect understudy for Mohamed Salah with his performances from Euro 2020 still fresh in their minds.

However, thanks to the ACL injury that he suffered before joining, he lost his burst of pace and his confidence.
Several transfer windows have passed since he joined Liverpool and, every single time, the Italian has always chosen to stay so that he can fight for his place.
But, each time, he’s failed and Liverpool have had to go back to the drawing board.
Even with the change of manager, Chiesa still didn’t quite cut it so now, thanks to an update from Calciomercat, it finally feels like the attacker is going to exit L4, for good.
“Chiesa will be put on the market in January, and Liverpool’s current goal is to collect at least €15 million from his sale,” they wrote.

“Those interested (in Italy, he’s been eyed by Napoli and Inter) should consider his salary: in England, Enrico’s son earns around €7 million net per season.”

Since the start of the 2026-27 season, Chiesa has been side-lined due to injury.
And, even though he’s expected to be back in contention to play for Liverpool by the end of the international break, it’s unclear how much of a regular role he’ll actually get.
At the moment, everyone, including Lewis Koumas, all seem to be ahead of him in the pecking order.
Perhaps the only player he might have a chance of getting into Iraola’s starting XI over is Jayden Danns, but, that’s only because they play in different positions.

Of course, if Chiesa can figure out how to get back to his best and could finally start scoring some goals, he’d be a welcome addition to Liverpool’s attack but, looking at the last couple of campaigns, it certainly feels like history will repeat itself.
Obviously, there’s no real knowing what the future has in store at Liverpool but, if the “exceptional” attacker doesn’t leave Liverpool this January, some serious questions will need to be asked.
