Women’s world champion Liv Morgan beat WWE women’s champion Nia Jax at Crown Jewel on Saturday to win the inaugural WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Championship.

Chaos ran rampant outside the ring throughout the match with Tiffany Stratton teasing cashing in her Money in the Bank contract and Raquel Rodriguez preventing her from doing so.

Ultimately, Rodriguez interfered on Morgan’s behalf, allowing her to hit Jax with Oblivion for the win.

At the Bad Blood premium live event last month, WWE head of creative Triple H added an interesting new twist to Crown Jewel by announcing the Crown Jewel Championship would be on the line for both the men’s and women’s world champions for the first time ever.

In addition to world heavyweight champion Gunther and WWE champion Cody Rhodes battling for the men’s version of the title, Morgan and Jax were lined up to clash for the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship.

Both Morgan and Jax had title defenses at Bad Blood, and they were each able to secure their spot at Crown Jewel.

Jax beat Bayley to retain the WWE Women’s Championship due in part to interference from Stratton, while Morgan lost to Rhea Ripley by disqualification when Rodriguez returned and attacked the Australian.

Despite Ripley’s win, Morgan retained since a title cannot change hands on anything other than a pinfall or submission in a traditional match.

That set the stage for a unique contest at Crown Jewel since Morgan and Jax are both heels who have not been receiving favorable reactions from the WWE fanbase.

Despite that, WWE moved quickly to build up some tension between the two ahead of their Crown Jewel match, starting with the Oct. 11 episode of SmackDown when Morgan interfered during a non-title contest between Jax and Naomi.

Morgan stole Tiffany Stratton’s Money in the Bank briefcase and hit Jax with it, allowing Naomi to pick up the huge victory.

Jax got some measure of revenge a few days later on Raw when she interrupted the main event tag team match pitting Morgan and Rodriguez against Ripley and Stratton.

Jax caused a disqualification and hit Morgan with her Annihilator finisher, which nearly resulted in Stratton cashing in her Money in the Bank contract on Morgan before Dominik Mysterio saved her.

Those segments were effective in terms of building animosity and intrigue for a match that saw Morgan prevail and obtain the WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Championship.
