Cumberland’s Matilda Lind has been named the Mid-South Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week while Patrick Chesnut earned the men’s honor, the league announced Monday.

Lind, a sophomore from Sweden, delivered a strong performance at the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite, finishing tied for sixth in a 45-player field that featured six top-25 teams.

She was the top finisher for the Phoenix, carding rounds of 78, 73 and 76 on the par-72, 5,818-yard layout at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. Lind recorded four birdies throughout the tournament.

The honor is Lind’s third Mid-South Conference Golfer of the Week award of her career and the first of her sophomore season.

Cumberland’s womenf will return to action next Monday and Tuesday at the Emmanuel Spring Invite.

Chesnut, a junior from Athens, Ala., put together an impressive performance at the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite, finishing fifth in a competitive field that featured four top-25 teams. He fired rounds of 77, 72 and a career-best 68 to claim all-tournament honors in a 44-player field.

His final-round, a four-under 68, was bogey-free, and he closed the tournament on an incredible 31-hole bogey-free streak, recording 10 birdies over the three-round event. Chesnut helped lead the Phoenix against a strong eight-team field at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, a par-72 course stretching 7,257 yards.

This marks the first Mid-South Conference weekly honor of Chesnut’s season and career.

Cumberland’s men will return to action in their next tournament on March 10-11 at the Carey Collegiate in Hattiesburg, Miss.
