There’s a new Lego project that needs your support—desperately. A creator has built a killer Renault 5 Turbo 3E, and it is just over halfway to getting a review by Lego itself.
Devon-Bricks submitted the idea on April 15, and it racked up over 5,000 votes by April 30. It currently sits at 5,207, with 774 days left for it to reach the 10,000-vote milestone that triggers the review. Devon wrote in the description:
‘The Turbo appeals to those who grew up with the original, as well as a new generation who love its perfect blend of futuristic and retro looks. But more importantly, it represents the future of motoring.’
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E debuted at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, which would eventually enter production as a limited-run hot hatch. Renault will make just 1,980 examples of the compact two-door, two-seat electric vehicle, which pumps out 536 horsepower.
The car can rocket to 62 miles per hour in around three seconds and has a top speed of 196 mph. Deliveries of the EV are expected to start in 2027, giving everyone time to vote for the Lego kit.
Motor1’s Take: Lego is a gateway into car culture, so whenever a great idea is proposed, it is best that we support it. We have to give the next generation of enthusiasts the opportunity to fall in love with the automobile, as we did.
