Kyle Larson Doesn’t Mince Words on Austin Hill’s Ugly Xfinity Move at Indianapolis originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Kyle Larson is recognized as one of the best drivers in the world. He’s witnessed a lot of racing throughout his career in NASCAR and outside of it. He knows aggressive driving when he sees it.

During Saturday’s Xfinity Series race with 10 laps to go, the 2021 Cup champion was running behind Austin Hill, who was in fourth, and Aric Almirola, who was on his rear bumper as the cars headed into Turn 3. Coming out of Turn 4, the Richard Childress Racing car got sideways before the 31-year-old skillfully saved it and got the car pointed straight.

Unexpectedly, a split-second later, the No. 21 pilot turned left into the right rear of the No. 19 car on his inside, redirecting the Joe Gibbs Racing car for a hard right turn and a vicious hit into the outside wall.

Larson didn’t sugarcoat what he thought about the move on the team radio.

“ Wow! That was extremely intentional,” the future Hall of Famer said.

“Yeah, not good there,” a crew member responded.

A few minutes later NASCAR officials agreed it wasn’t an accident and held Hill with a five-lap penalty for reckless driving.

The driver was not happy about it, even saying: “[Expletive] NASCAR!” Team owner Richard Childress was also displeased and later suggested his driver shouldn’t be suspended.

NASCAR typically announces its penalties for the previous race weekend on Tuesday or Wednesday. Most pundits believe an additional penalty is coming from the sanctioning body, more than likely in the form of a suspension.
