For most of Kyle Busch’s NASCAR career, nobody needed an explanation for “Rowdy.” The nickname fit.

Busch raced with an edge, rarely backed away from confrontation and never seemed particularly bothered when the grandstands were booing louder than they were cheering. As his trophy collection grew, so did the persona. There was Rowdy Nation. There were the theatrical bows after victories. There was an entire generation of NASCAR fans that knew exactly who someone meant when they simply said “Rowdy.”
