Kyle Busch and John Hunter Nemechek’s wreck is the main storyline following the NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. With two laps to go, Busch went up the track coming off Turn 2, expecting Nemechek to be higher, causing them to hit the wall. Then, the No. 8 car went right up the track entering Turn 3, wrecking the No. 42 car without a caution.
The first incident won’t cause any problems; however, the same can’t be said for the second. NASCAR will review the incident between Busch and Nemechek at Texas to determine if any penalties need to be handed out. If Busch purposely wrecked Nemechek in Turn 3, NASCAR could give the Richard Childress Racing driver a penalty this week.
Following the race, Busch’s spotter, Derek Kneeland, said the “right front is bent in all the way on the bottom,” so that could have played a role in the incident. Busch and Nemechek are in disagreement about what happened coming off Turn 2, but NASCAR will review the wreck in its entirety.

If NASCAR believes a penalty is required, a points deduction and fine seem more appropriate than a suspension.
