Welcome to another edition of The Grind, where we couldn’t have gotten more lucky for a flight on Sunday. Not only did I happen to be flying on JetBlue, but I got access to two TVs when no one sat in the middle seat, allowing me to keep a close eye on both the Knicks’ Game 4 against Philadelphia and the Truist Championship:

Now that’s how you make a flight go by quickly! Anyway, let’s talk about what I watched—and where I went.

WE’RE BUYING
Kristoffer Reitan: What an incredible rise for this guy over the past couple years from struggling on the HotelPlanner Tour and being ranked outside the top 1,000 in the world to winning a PGA Tour signature event at the Truist Championship. And he was only in the field thanks to a Jake Knapp WD.

But his $3.6 million haul is just a blip when it comes to the family fortune. Kristoffer’s grandfather, Odd Reitan, the founder and CEO of Reitan AS, is one of the richest men in the world with an estimated net worth of $9 billion. And Kristoffer’s sister, Viktoria, is a pop star in Norway.

The more you know. Anyway, it was a big week for Kris, a big week for Norway, and a big week for … SQAIRZ? Somewhere, Nick Faldo was smiling.
Brandt Snedeker: The 45-year-old with sub-110 mph clubhead speed won the ONEFlight Myrtle Beach Classic for his first PGA Tour title since 2018. And he had an amazing emotional reaction after:
So it’s a win for the (good) old guys! And it’s a minor medical miracle given all the issues Snedeker has battled, including going through a painful experimental procedure in which part of his hip bone was used to basically create a new sternum. But he’s a PGA Tour winner again. And he should be a force on the PGA Tour Champions in just a few years.
The Golf Digest Open: Excuse the company plug here, but I played in the first of these qualifiers in 2026 at Dutchman’s Pipe in Palm Beach with golf influencer Remec Carlson, AKA the “CEO of Golf,” and it was a ton of fun.

Congrats to all the winners and good luck to those advancing to November’s GD Open national championship at McLemore Resort in Georgia. And if you’re interested in signing up with a buddy, there’s more info here. Better do it fast, though, because these qualifiers are filling up faster

Bryson DeChambeau’s pull-up ability: Bryson is not as bulked up as he was at one point, but if there was any doubt about his impressive strength—and not just for a golfer—he settled that with this pull-up display:
I remember doing the flexed arm hang instead of the pull-up for the Presidential Fitness tests like 30 years ago. And still failing. It’s no wonder I never made it as a pro athlete.
WE’RE SELLING
Bryson DeChambeau’s group chat ability: However, I don’t think I’ve ever quite bungled a group text chain like the two-time U.S. Open champ did ahead of last year’s Ryder Cup. According to Kevin Kisner, Bryson bought an iPhone to be able to better connect with the rest of Team USA, but he provided the wrong number, which led to some random person getting a bunch of Ryder Cup texts:

Jim Furyk might need to assemble a text task force ahead of next year’s Ryder Cup.
The Insperity Invitational: Like the Myrtle Beach tournament, this event actually produced a great story in Boo Weekley picking up his first PGA Tour Champions title (kinda surprising). I’m just selling it because the title sponsor was a reminder that at the beginning of the year, some people thought we’d see Tiger Woods tee it up here on the senior circuit. So, sigh to that. But yay to Boo!

Kenneth Richmond
And to go bogey-free for the week? Very impressive.
Lucas Herbert’s timing: The Aussie won the LIV Virginia event for his first LIV title to earn $4 million and vault from No. 173 to No. 89 in the Official World Golf Ranking. So what’s the problem? He needed to be inside the top 100 as of last week to get into this week’s PGA Championship.

That’s a tough one for the PGA Tour and DP World Tour winner, but that $4 million should help ease the pain.
ON TAP
The second men’s major championship of the year is here with the PGA Championship, AKA the fourth major that is now the second major on the calendar. And for the first time since 1962, Aronimink Golf Club will host the event. Gary Player won that year, and 64 years later he was having a push-up contest with Bryson DeChambeau at the White House.
And both happened to have a locker at Dutchman’s Pipe. Nice spot.
Random tournament fact: Speaking of longevity, Adam Scott is playing in his 99th consecutive major. Only Jack Nicklaus has ever had a longer streak:

TWEET(S) OF THE WEEK
As cool as it was to see Snedeker get back into the winner’s circle, it was still too bad that Mark Hubbard couldn’t quite get there for the first time in his 274th career PGA Tour start. But his brother provided a couple great texts after, pointing out Sneds’ classy move:
And showing how Mark handled it:
Keep your head up, Mark.
TWEET(S) OF THE WEEK (STATS DIVISION)
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Yurav Premlall’s 14-shot (yes, FOURTEEN) victory at the DP World Tour’s Catalunya Championship is one of the most shocking wins in golf history. Not only did the 22-year-old South African win by FOURTEEN shots, but it seemingly came out of nowhere.

That’s even less competitive than the Knicks-Sixers series. What a crazy sport. And then there’s this impressive Alex Fitzpatrick stat/not-so-impressive Jordan Spieth stat:
Don’t feel too bad, Jordan. Alex just beat his big brother, Matt, by 13 shots as well.

You truly never know what you’re going to see at the driving range:

Whatever that guy was searching for, I hope he found it.
VIRAL VIDEO OF THE WEEK
Jon Rahm made an albatross that somehow wasn’t shown or mentioned during the LIV broadcast. But here it is:
Good thing for fans having cell phone cameras, huh? LIV has had some odd moments, but this one is right near the top.

VIRAL VIDEO OF THE WEEK (CREATIVE DIVISION)
Harry Hall put this out:
And while I don’t completely understand, I appreciate the effort from the Englishman. And he finished T-8 for another strong result.
THIS WEEK IN PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION
Jordan Spieth brought back his iconic “Go get that” move with caddie Michael Greller after draining a long putt at Quail Hollow:
Unfortunately, it didn’t lead to him getting back in the winner’s circle like he did at that 2017 Open Championship, but rather a … T-52.
THIS WEEK IN CELEBRITY GOLFERS
J.R. Smith revealed the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers have a 10-year anniversary trip planned and it’s a big-time golf journey to Northern Ireland and Scotland:

If LeBron James does retire, that would be one heckuva sendoff.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“It’s like, I promise I’m not trying to copy everything you do. But I’m maybe trying to copy everything you do. I don’t know.” —Justin Thomas on playing with Cameron Young after asking for—and receiving—the same putter Young uses and then happening to show up wearing the same shoes as well. By the way, JT finished 12th for the week in strokes gained/putting so he might be onto something there with the putter switch.
THIS AND THAT
Congrats to Jeeno Thitikul on winning her ninth career LPGA Tour title at the Mizuho Americas Open. Not a bad response after losing her World No. 1 ranking to Nelly Korda last week. … Anthony Kim continued his incredible comeback, firing a final-round 62 to help the 4Aces win the LIV Virginia team championship. You knew a low one was coming after his wife flashed that famed “AK” belt buckle last week. … Cameron Young shot a final-round 74 to only finish T-10 at Quail Hollow. What’s wrong with him?! Kidding. … And, finally, I managed to eat at Wendy’s and Chili’s in a 24-hour period:

What a great (short) trip.
