Kevin Kisner believes that it is inevitable that LIV Golf’s Team Championship will be cancelled, having been told that they have not even begun to prepare the venue for the event.
Doubts over the future of LIV Golf remain. Scott O’Neil has been working to source fresh investment for the league, with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia set to walk away.

Reports from the New York Post claimed that O’Neil was closing in on sealing $250 million from potential investors. But given how much has been invested in LIV over the years, it would be no surprise if many felt that the update marked a stay of execution rather than the start of a new beginning.
And what has not helped O’Neil’s cause is the uncertainty over the remainder of the current season.
What Kevin Kisner has heard about the LIV Golf Team Championship
Several players expressed a belief that the Team Championship would not take place. However, LIV has seemingly delayed announcing the cancellation of the event.

With the encouraging investment news, some may have wondered whether there would be a dramatic u-turn in Michigan.
But that is seemingly not the case, judging by what Kevin Kisner has told the Fore Play Podcast about the information he has received.

“I’ve been told that the Michigan final, there’s not one stitch of infrastructure in place, so that’s obviously not going to happen. That takes months before an event to be ready for it, you can’t just show up the week of with no infrastructure and have a live golf event on national TV,” he said.
“I was told that their last tournament that they could afford was Bedminster. I was just trying to pull up their schedule to see which one that is, but this website is difficult to operate. New York, Bedminster, then they go to Indianapolis, and then was the Michigan team event, which has no infrastructure, so maybe they make it to Indy, I don’t know.

“If I just take my golf hat off, I just don’t see how anybody’s giving them $250 million with the product, and can see any return on their investment. I ask anybody who runs, what did you call it, ‘bluechip companies’, no CEO of a bluechip company I’ve asked is like, ‘hell yeah, I’m fired up, I can’t wait to go give them $250 million’.
“Who knows what the future is, if that guy can pull it off, it would be incredible. I think he’d be much better served if he went and got a load of smaller investors and just tried to reduce what they were playing for to keep the talent on there until he can get some momentum.”
LIV Golf is somehow still struggling to be able to admit mistakes
Perhaps LIV will be able to spring a surprise and stage the Team Championship. But should the event get cancelled as many expect, then the new-look league should look to make a significant change from next year.

One of the big problems with LIV Golf has been their inability to admit anything that would paint the league in a negative light.
When it was announced that LIV’s event in New Orleans had been postponed, the league claimed that they hoped to reschedule the event for later in the year.
LIV has seemingly said nothing about the event since, with all references removed from the schedule listed on their website. It is as if they are pretending it never existed in the first place.
If those behind the scenes know that the Team Championship is not going ahead, then delaying the announcement only makes the situation worse.
While you can understand why those on LIV have been defensive over the years, their failure to concede that so many mistakes have been made has been nearly as harmful as the mistakes themselves.
