For the first time in their storied careers, Kevin Durant and Russell Wilson faced off on Christmas Day.
The former teammates represented the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets respectively in the final game on the Christmas slate. As expected, the play was intense and competitive.
The two spent eight seasons together with the Oklahoma State Warriors and reached the 2011-12 NBA Finals with the team. They have not been teammates since that time but have clashed as division rivals several times.
In the first half, Durant had 14 points, five assists and three rebounds and went 5-of-14 shooting. Westbrook came off the bench and had nine points, three rebounds and one assist on 4-of-9 shooting.
Fans took to social media to praise the matchup express excitement at the matchup and praise the two for playing hard against eachother.
Phoenix entered halftime with a 58-56 lead over the Nuggets and are hoping to improve to 15-14 on the season.
This is the second of four matchups between the two teams and the next will not come until Feb. 8.
