The Phoenix Suns started the 2024-25 season on a positive note with a 116-113 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in overtime on Wednesday.

It wasn’t the prettiest night for the Suns’ stars, but they had just enough to get it done against James Harden and the Clippers, who are without Kawhi Leonard as he continues to rehabilitate a knee injury.

Kevin Durant led the way for Phoenix with 25 points and seven rebounds while Bradley Beal had 24 points. Devin Booker had a slow start to the night but found his shot in the fourth quarter to finish with 15 points before fouling out.

Durant proved he’s still more than capable of hitting clutch shots, making a jumper with less than 30 seconds to go to tie the game and ultimately send it to overtime.

In overtime, the tight battle continued to go back and forth before James Harden had a chance to tie things at the line with less than five seconds remaining. He hit the first but missed the second free throw, allowing the Suns to put the game away.

After picking up the win in Game 1 of a long season, fans hyped the Suns for taking care of business in an intense first game of the year.

Harden could’ve ended the game with that 3 pointer instead Durant goes up on the other side and lays it up 👀

Kevin Durant’s And-1 puts the Phoenix Suns ahead, 101-99, with 1:39 to play. It’s been an 11-0 Phoenix run after a missed free throw could have put the Clippers up by 10 with 3:52 to play.

K @YvKrose

Kevin durant playing 43 minutes and defending James harden and still got his points?!!

There’s nothing like an overtime thriller to set the tone for the season, and the Suns got exactly that on Wednesday.
