NASCAR hasn’t competed at Kentucky Speedway since the 2020 season, but there is still an appetite for a return. With Chicagoland Speedway and North Wilkesboro Speedway returning to the Cup Series schedule, there are some who hope Kentucky is next. So, what is the latest on Kentucky’s potential return to NASCAR?
Speedway Motorsports chief operating officer Mike Burch said it “probably wouldn’t make sense” to bring Kentucky back to the NASCAR schedule, as he said on The Gluckcast. While Burch said “never say never,” it doesn’t appear that Kentucky will be hosting any premier NASCAR events in the near future.

The NextGen car has thrived on cookie-cutter tracks, and Kentucky would be another stellar showing if NASCAR got an opportunity to come back. However, it doesn’t seem like the speedway is in talks to host the sport anytime soon. For now, Kentucky appears to be on the back burner, but who knows if that can change in the coming years.
