Kenshiro Teraji puts his WBA and WBC flyweight titles on the line against American Ricardo Sandoval in Yokohama, Japan on Wednesday.
Teraji returns to action four months on from his incredible battle with Seigo Yuri Akui. ‘The Amazing Boy’ stopped his Japanese compatriot in the 12th and final round of a 2025 fight-of-the-year contender.
“It’s exciting to come out ahead in those intense fights,” Teraji told BoxingScene. “Personally, though, I’d much rather win with a lopsided victory.”
Teraji vs. Sandoval is one of three world-title showdowns at Yokohama Buntai.
Daigo Higa challenges Antonio Vargas for the WBA bantamweight crown. Higa will hope it is a case of third time lucky after he lost a close unanimous decision to WBO champion Yoshiki Takei last September and boxed to a thrilling draw with Seiya Tsutsumi in February.
Tsutsumi has since been declared the WBA’s ‘champion-in-recess’ due to being sidelined through injury, with Vargas elevated from interim champion status.
Undefeated knockout artist Kyosuke Takami is aiming to dethrone WBA light flyweight champion Erick Rosa.
