The best part of the Monster Truck Showdown at Anderson Speedway this past weekend was watching the smiles on the faces of the children in attendance.
I didn’t know what to expect when the speedway announced there would be two nights of Monster Truck action.

The event on Saturday exceeded my expectations with the six drivers of the Monster Trucks putting on an entertaining show.
The young fans at the event waved flags, cheered and jumped up and down as the Monster Trucks took part in a Figure-8 race and freestyle event.
I would suspect that Anderson Speedway officials will bring the Monster Trucks back to Anderson next year.
It was a different show at the speedway, but was entertaining and the staff did an excellent job of keeping those in attendance engaged in the event.
It opens an exciting month of June at Anderson Speedway starting this weekend with the return of the Outlaw Figure-8 teams competing in a 50-lap feature with the Knapp Supply Ford Division also racing in the crossover.

The Outlaw Figure-8 teams will return on Oct. 3 with the Mini-Outlaws making their first appearance at Anderson Speedway.
The following weekend will see the track host a 150-lap for the touring Street Stocks and the Kenyon Midget Series.
The month of June ends with the Tri-State Sprints making their first appearance with the USA Tire Modifieds returning to action.
I was saddened to hear of the passing of “Gentleman Ned Jarrett” over the weekend at the age of 93.
Jarrett had a successful racing career winning the Grand National Series titles in 1961 and 1965 and ended his NASCAR career with 50 victories.

Most people are going to remember Jarrett’s time in the broadcast booth, where he brought knowledge to the races he covered.
The most memorable part of his broadcast career when he cheered on his son, Dale, to the 1993 Daytona 500 victory.
Jarrett also called his son’s first career win in 1991 at the Michigan International Speedway.
In other racing news: Kody Swanson, coming off his fourth victory in the Unified Group Services Little 500 followed that up with the victory in the Race for the Million winged sprint car event at Owosso (MI) Speedway.
Bobby Santos III scored his fourth victory at Berlin Raceway with the Must See Racing race on Saturday with Swanson coming home in second.
Donnie Adams Jr. finished ninth at Berlin Raceway and 11th at the Owosso race.
