Manchester United could look to challenge Liverpool this summer, as the Reds could take a data-driven approach in their search for a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez, possibly targeting a signing from PSG.
The French champions, led by Luis Enrique, just wrapped up another dominant campaign, winning both Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France for the second consecutive season. On top of that, PSG claimed their first-ever Champions League title last weekend with a commanding 5-0 win over Inter Milan, and they’re still in the hunt for one more trophy.
One player who could be on the move is Gonçalo Ramos. The Portuguese striker has scored 18 goals and added six assists in 41 appearances this season, but his future in Paris remains uncertain.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Ramos. PSG are reportedly open to letting him leave, and he has already held talks with clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Le10Sport) has revived talk of a potential move, noting that the former Benfica striker could quickly become one of the hottest names on the market this summer. Juventus reportedly believe that Ramos may look for a new club due to limited opportunities at PSG.
Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Ramos, according to Anfield Index. While the 23-year-old is not at the top of the club’s wishlist, the report claims he’s under consideration as part of a data-driven, “Moneyball”-style approach to recruitment.
Ramos joined PSG on a permanent deal following an initial loan spell, with the French club paying €65 million (approximately £54.7 million) for the Portugal international.
