Long time coming
Talks over a new deal for Flick had been ongoing for quite some time now, and all parties were clear about wanting to continue their successful partnership.
However, the German tactician had always made it clear that he did not want to distract the squad or become the centre of attention while the team were still fighting for trophies.

Within Barcelona, there is total satisfaction with Flick’s work since taking over as manager from Xavi Hernandez in the summer of 2024.
Beyond the defeat against Deportivo Alaves last night, which had no impact on the title race, Barça’s board strongly believe the German coach has transformed the team since arriving.
