The John Deere Classic may not have the notoriety as many other tournaments on the PGA Tour, but the JDC has some unique history.

From scoring records to consecutive wins to the one of the few teenage winners, this heartland tournament has a strong string of notable events.

Steve Stricker was last to win same event 3 years in a row

Stricker won the 2009, 2010 ad 2011 John Deere Classics and he retains the title of “the last golfer to win the same PGA Tour event three years in a row”. Rory McIlroy has back-to-back Masters and in April 2027 he’ll get a chance to bump Stricker off the top of that list but for now, the winning Ryder Cup captain from 2021 is the most recent to pull the Tour trifecta.

TPC Deere Run is 1 of 2 courses to give up sub-60 rounds twice

TPC Deere Run has give up 59 twice: Paul Goydos in 2010 and Hayden Springer in 2024. Only TPC River Highlands, host of the Travelers Championship, has relinquished two sub-60 rounds, with Cameron Young’s 59 in 2024 and Jim Furyk’s 58 in 2016.

Jordan Spieth earned a rare teenage win at the John Deere

Spieth’s playoff win 13 years ago made him the first teenager to win on the PGA Tour since 1931. He would win a second JDC title two years later but his pre-20 win is still in the record books.

The 1981 John Deere Classic needed 8 playoff holes

Only one PGA Tour event, the 1949 Motor City Open that went 11 holes, had a longer playoff.

John Deere is the PGA Tour’s second-longest running sponsor

It’s been since 1998 that John Deere has been the title sponsor on the PGA Tour, second only to AT&T, which started at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am just two years prior.
