Joey Logano and the No. 22 team for Team Penske experienced one of the worst races of their partnership at Darlington Raceway last weekend. Logano finished in 33rd place as the only driver three laps down. There wasn’t an issue or accident that held Logano down at Darlington. The No. 22 car was simply slow.

It was a miserable race for Logano, who now sits tied for 16th place in the point standings with Michael McDowell. After a strong start to the 2026 NASCAR season, the Team Penske driver is sitting on the Chase bubble. While there are 20 races left in the regular season, Logano’s performance at Darlington was very concerning.

The No. 22 team wasn’t even close to having top-30 speed at Darlington on Sunday. Logano was incredibly far off from his Team Penske teammates; however, there is one reason for optimism. Darlington was very unique, as NASCAR ran the short-track package for the first time at the venue.

Logano and the No. 22 team must hope that Sunday was a fluke or he could be fighting for a spot in the Chase this summer.
