Jimmie Johnson shared a glimpse of the No. 48 livery for his farewell race at the 2027 Daytona 500.
Johnson recently announced that he has teamed up with Lowe’s, Ally, and Carvana to sponsor his sendoff race. Lowe’s was his primary sponsor through his seven championships and 83 victories; Ally covered his final seasons in 2019 and 2020, while Carvana sponsored his NASCAR comeback as a team owner and part-time driver.

Johnson is set to run his iconic No. 48 car, loaned by Hendrick Motorsports for the special occasion. Ahead of Sunday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at the World Center of Racing, Johnson drove the car around on track.
“My heart is full to say the least,” he wrote.
The paint scheme mirrors his No. 48 car from his 2016 championship-winning campaign, while a special thank-you sticker for Lowe’s adorns the rear bumper.
Moreover, Carvana is prominently featured on the side doors and car hood.

Jimmie Johnson later spoke to reporters and addressed the farewell paint scheme reveal. The seven-time champion highlighted the support he has received.
“It was neat. As I drove down pit lane the remaining pit stalls – there were probably 10 or 15 stalls – all the teams were coming off the wall and showing their support which was completely unexpected. I saw my little brother at the end of the pit lane, he works for Monster Energy, and he was down at the end losing his mind. My daughter was able to ride in the car, and my dad was able to pull off the tarp so a lot of great emotions. And the fans in the stands were pumped as well,” Johnson said via Speedway Media.
Speaking about the special collaboration between multiple sponsors and the No. 48 entry, Jimmie Johnson gave props to HMS team owner Rick Hendrick.
“Mr. Hendrick’s commitment to speak to everyone at Lowe’s, looping in our existing partners and obviously Toyota’s support,” Johnson said, “once the snowballs started rolling, it all came together. The neat thing is we’ve got a lot of time between now and the Daytona 500 to continue to amplify this opportunity.”
Jimmie Johnson last competed on home turf during NASCAR’s inaugural race at San Diego. Johnson finished on the lead lap in 28th, while his drivers Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek landed top-20 spots.

Johnson also competed in the Truck Series race that weekend, but he faced late trouble with a couple of spins. Notably, it was his first Truck Series race in 17 years, and he qualified up front and even led laps in the second stage.
The team owner ultimately rounded out the top-30 after mechanical gremlins derailed his race.
