The Jets made a pair of signings reported in the early hours of Saturday morning.

New York is adding wide receiver Tyler Johnson and special teamer Kris Boyd, according to multiple reports.

Johnson, 26, played 15 games with the Rams last year, his second season with Los Angeles. He hauled in 26 receptions (41 targets) with 291 receiving yards (11.2 yards per reception) and a touchdown. He made two starts last year and played 36.8 percent of Los Angeles’ offensive snaps during the regular season.

The 6-foot-1 wideout does have some playoff experience, he played in all four games during the Bucs’ run to the Super Bowl his rookie season, making two catches for 31 yards. Johnson had six catches for 45 yards during the Rams’ two playoff games this past year, playing over 55 percent of their offensive snaps in each of those games.

He saw decent action in his first two seasons in the league with the Buccaneers – 31 games and 529 yards – before he was waived after training camp in August 2022. He bounced between the practice squads in Houston, Tampa, and Las Vegas before hooking up with the Rams in 2023. He spent last year on LA’s roster.

A fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay, Johnson has 76 catches for 828 yards and four scores in his 49 career games.

Boyd, 28, appeared in all 17 games last season with Houston and played 77 percent of the Texans’ special teams snaps. A cornerback by trade, he has limited action on defense – 687 total snaps during his six years in the league.

His most memorable moment is a rather infamous one: Boyd shoved Texans special teams coach Frank Ross on the sideline after committing a penalty on a kickoff during Houston’s Divisional Round loss in Kansas City this past season.

Texans head coach Demeco Ryans downplayed the shove after the game, telling reporters he did not think Ross pushed the coach in a “disrespectful manner.

“I think it was moreso he was fired up – overly fired up – and thought he made a play to help us,” Ryans said in January. “So that narrative that he’s pushing a coach, that’s incorrect.”

Boyd forced a fumble on the kickoff but was penalized for taking his helmet off and sending it toward the sideline.

“I was just too excited, did something that I shouldn’t have done. Learning from it,” Boyd said after the game. “Keep my helmet on.”

Boyd added that he “loves Frank” and apologized to Ross for his tempers flaring because his response is not in his “character.”

“I love everybody here. I love my coaches. I never disrespect anybody,” he said. “I apologized to everybody. [Ross] told me ‘Don’t worry about that.'”

A seventh-round draft pick in 2019 by Minnesota, he spent his first four years in the league with the Vikings, where he forced two fumbles and recovered four of them. He spent part of the 2023 season with Arizona before joining up with Houston after he was released midseason.
