Liverpool have been handed a timely boost with Jeremie Frimpong’s (24) return to full training, easing concerns after the summer signing’s hamstring setback. The £29.5m recruit from Bayer Leverkusen was forced off on the opening night against Bournemouth and subsequently missed the wins over Newcastle United and Arsenal.
As reported by The Athletic, rather than join the Netherlands squad during the international break, Frimpong remained on Merseyside for an intensive rehabilitation programme. That decision appears to have paid off, with the 23-year-old taking part in Wednesday’s session at Kirkby, though Liverpool’s medical staff are expected to adopt a cautious approach with his reintegration.
In his absence, Arne Slot has turned to creative solutions. Dominik Szoboszlai, deployed at right-back, has impressed with his energy and distribution, while Conor Bradley’s return to fitness gives the head coach further options. With six matches in just 17 days across three competitions, rotation will be crucial, and Frimpong’s pace and attacking thrust could prove invaluable once fully fit.
Federico Chiesa and Joe Gomez were also involved in the session, giving Slot the rare luxury of a near-full squad. With Burnley up next, Liverpool’s depth will be tested, but the return of Frimpong marks a significant step toward balancing the intensity of a demanding September schedule.
