When the Pittsburgh Steelers signed safety Jaquan Brisker in the offseason, it was met with understandable excitement.
The Penn State product has become one of the game’s most versatile safeties over his first four years in the NFL, posting four interceptions and eight sacks from 2022-25. Now in Pittsburgh, he will be one of the multiple new stars helping a very deep secondary in a new-look defense.

Speaking to the media after Saturday’s practice, Brisker raved about new Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and the different looks the unit will throw at opposing offenses.
“I love this defense,” Brisker said. [Graham] is so smart, and the coaches complement him. It’s a great coaching staff. He’s giving us the keys… he gives us the ability to play how we want.”
Brisker will have a new running mate when the Steelers take the field on Monday, as safety Rayshawn Jenkins was added to the roster. Even without the services of Jalen Ramsey and Joey Porter Jr. throughout the first week of training camp, Pittsburgh’s defense has looked cohesive in team drills, with Asante Samuel Jr’s play being especially notable. Brisker had his best day of practice on Saturday, blowing up a jet sweep to Roman Wilson for what would have been a two-yard loss in-game.
The Steelers will play their first preseason game on Thursday, August 11 when they host the Green Bay Packers.
