Jackson Koivun was named as one of Brandt Snedeker’s six captain’s picks on Tuesday.
Koivun burst onto the PGA Tour scene in July, winning the 3M Open in what was only his third start as a professional.

The supremely talented 21-year-old is quite clearly at total ease playing at the very highest level of the game.
Jackson Koivun’s selection for the Presidents Cup was totally deserved, especially given his exceptional match-play record at amateur level.

Koivun is being tipped to partner Justin Thomas at the Presidents Cup, with Brandt Snedeker keen to put the youngster alongside someone with vast experience.
However, it goes without saying that Koivun will be supremely confident in his ability to win his matches, regardless of who he is paired with.

Koivun made an appearance on the Foreplay Plus Podcast on Wednesday.

The young star was asked whether he and his Presidents Cup teammates have any plans to play a tournament together before the Presidents Cup, just like the Ryder Cup team did in Napa last year.
“I think we’re gonna do a little team practice, not quite sure, the whole details on that,“ Koivun replied.

“But I will, I’m still gonna play Biltmore.
“I think maybe two or three of us will just for preparation.
“I mean, I’ve not played since Memphis, so I don’t really need to be walking into Medinah with a month and a half off, or whatever it’s been.“
Koivun will be keen to arrive at Medinah without any rust in his game, and playing at the Biltmore Championship Asheville will surely help him guard against that.

The entire Team USA should follow Koivun to the Biltmore
Koivun deciding to play at the Biltmore Championship Asheville the week before the Presidents Cup is a really smart move.
It would actually be wise for the rest of his Presidents Cup teammates to join him in North Carolina as well.
Going into the Presidents Cup having not played since the end of August at the Tour Championship would be questionable preparation.
Any player who chooses not to play before the event at Medinah will have gone 24 days without any competitive action by the time the first day of the Presidents Cup rolls around.
Whether or not any other players will decide to join Koivun at the Biltmore Championship Asheville remains to be seen, though.
