BOSTON, MA — Following the New York Islanders’ 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins, forward Marc Gatcomb celebrated his return to his home state of Massachusetts.

After the game, he was greeted by family, friends, and former teammates after his beginnings in Woburn:

After growing up in Massachusetts, he attended The Frederick Gunn School in Washington, Connecticut, where he played high school hockey for two seasons. Over those two years, he notched 27 goals and 26 assists for 53 points in 63 games.

Following high school, he committed to the University of Connecticut in the Hockey East conference. In four seasons with UConn, he recorded 24 goals and 24 assists for 48 points in 124 games. He later signed with the Vancouver Canucks organization, where he played three seasons in the American Hockey League before joining the Islanders.

After a solid impression in Bridgeport, where he recorded nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 35 games with the AHL Islanders, he got the call to the NHL in January. In 15 games with the big club, he has three goals and an assist for four points.

Despite playing only 7:37 of game time on Thursday, it was a special homecoming for the undrafted forward.
