There are golf trips, and then there are golf trips where your transportation between rounds is the Orient Express.
La Dolce Vita Orient Express has unveiled two golf-focused journeys through Italy, combining some of the country’s best courses with overnight rail travel, fine dining and stops through some fairly spectacular parts of the Italian countryside.
The two itineraries, called Northern Greens and Italian Swing, running in September 2026 and again in April 2027, are designed to mix golf with the sort of travel experience that might make even the non-golfer in the family considerably more enthusiastic about tagging along.

The four-day, three-night Northern Greens journey begins in Rome and heads through Northern and Central Italy, with golf at Royal Park I Roveri, Franciacorta Golf Club and The Club at Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany.
Italian Swing, meanwhile, heads in the other direction. That itinerary includes San Domenico Golf Club in Apulia, Castiglion del Bosco and Antognolla Golf in Umbria, with a range of food, wellness and cultural experiences also built into the journey for those who might not want to spend every waking hour chasing a golf ball around Italy.

There’s a Ryder Cup connection, too. Both itineraries can be complemented by a round at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club outside Rome, where Europe famously defeated the United States team in the 2023 Ryder Cup.
Add that option and you’ll tick off three of the top 10 courses in Italy, according to our latest rankings.

And, as you might expect, getting from course to course is a little more glamorous than piling four golf bags into the back of a rental car. The La Dolce Vita Orient Express is styled around Italy’s 1960s design era, with 31 cabins—including 18 suites—and food overseen by three-Michelin-starred chef Heinz Beck. Not a bad way to get from one tee time to the next.
Cabins start at $32,000. For more information, visit https://www.orient-express.com/la-dolce-vita/bundle/the-golf-collection/
