Enshrouded hit Steam on Jan. 24, 2024 as an early-access title, and it’s been through quite a lot in its first year. Throughout 2024, a ton of new content and features arrived through various updates. But one major aspect of the game has remained missing, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by Xbox and PlayStation users.
That’s right: We’re talking about accessibility for players on console, who have still have yet to sink their teeth into all that Embervale has to offer. Despite being in early access for a year, the game isn’t available on the Microsoft console. In fact, the survival-crafter is not on any console outside of the Steam Deck, Valve’s handheld computer. But prospective players can rest easy knowing this will eventually change, considering the developer’s promises—and its recent memes that prove how the studio is more than aware of players’ wishes.
Is Enshrouded available on Xbox Series X and Series S?
No, Enshrouded isn’t on Xbox consoles at the time of writing. The game is currently still in its early-access period and can only be downloaded through Valve’s digital storefront Steam. Keen Games previously informed fans on X (formerly Twitter) that Enshrouded would first be available on PC during early access and then released on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 only when its full version launches.
When will Enshrouded release on Xbox?
Enshrouded doesn’t have an exact date confirmed for its Xbox release, but it does reportedly have a full release planned for 2025, according to IGN. Additionally, on Enshrouded’s Steam page, there’s a developer note disclosing Keen Games’ aim to finish the game’s early-access stage within a year. We’d expect Enshrouded’s Xbox version to become available in spring 2025 at the earliest, considering how the game was released in January 2024.
These expected dates highly depend on Enshrouded’s development schedule, though, and there can be major shifts depending on the game’s content schedule and popularity. We may also see a delay, as is so common in the games industry, due to unforeseen circumstances. Things are looking good for the studio, though, considering how the survival-crafter celebrated three million players in August and most recently launched its second major update, Souls of the Frozen Frontier in November. At the very least, fans on console will have plenty of biomes to explore and NPCs to wrangle up whenever they do gain access—more than what players on PC had at the time of the game’s initial early access launch.
In the meantime, you can keep an eye on the Enshrouded roadmap for all of the future updates and content that the developer plans to release in the game’s continued development cycle. You can also bookmark the game’s official website for any direct communication from Keen Games about when Enshrouded will arrive on console.
