Local authorities in Davie, Florida initially said they closed their investigation into an incident at the home of New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith. They have since changed course.
The newly opened investigation involves an incident that took place at Smith’s home over the weekend, when a woman posted a social media video accusing Smith of assaulting her. A spokesperson from the Town of Davie Police Department initially told USA TODAY Sports via email on Monday, June 22, that police responded to the incident at Smith’s home but did not make any arrests.

They did tell USA TODAY Sports that an incident report “will be available when the investigation by detectives is closed and approved for release.”
Geno Smith confronted by woman in Instagram video
A woman shared three Instagram videos over the weekend showing her confronting Smith outside of his home and in his garage.
“Geno just beat my (expletive),” the woman said in the video while filming Smith walking back into the home.

Smith told the woman to “stay away from my family” before re-entering his house. The woman continued filming as she ran down the quarterback’s driveway and into the street, screaming for help. She turned the camera around afterward, revealing Smith had left his house again and was standing in the driveway next to a car. He told her to leave his neighborhood.
A second video showed another point-of-view shot of the woman continuing to confront Smith, this time at the door of a car the woman says is hers. The 35-year-old quarterback can be seen opening the door of the car and climbing into the front seat before seeming to grab a handbag.
“Throwing my purses out and stealing my money out my car,” the second video caption reads.
A third video showed Smith speaking to three police officers outside of the front door of his home.

The caption of the third video read: “Charges, PRESSED!”
