Karl Stenson has often been the little blond-haired kid posing with his father Henrik with trophies years ago when he was in his prime. Now 16, Karl has committed to play golf at the University of Florida. Ian Poulter’s son Luke is a senior for the Gators and is competing for Great Britain & Ireland this weekend in the Walker Cup.
“I’m extremely proud and honored to announce that I have verbally committed to play golf at the University of Florida,” Karl Stenson wrote in a social media post. “I want to sincerely thank head coach J.C. Deacon and associate head coach Dudley Hart for the opportunity, trust, and belief they have shown in me throughout this process. I’m incredibly excited to join the Gator family, compete at the highest level, and represent the University of Florida on and off the course.”

Karl Stenson is a junior at Circle Christian School in Orlando, Fla., and is ranked as the 15th player in the class of 2028. He’s mostly played events in his father’s native Sweden this summer.

Florida won the 2023 NCAA Championship under Deacon, The Gators qualified for match play at the championship this year and were ousted in the first round by Oklahoma State. They ended the season ranked No. 3 in the country.
