No fewer than 16 players have left RB Leipzig this transfer summer, but the player who was actually at the top of the list to be cut still has a contract with the Saxons: Timo Werner.

Despite being advised internally to transfer, according to ‘Bild’ reports, Werner is said to have rejected offers from all over Europe (including Leeds and Burnley) and the USA.

Sports boss Marcel Schäfer now gives Werner hope again that he won’t have to spend his last contract year exclusively on the bench: “With us, only the performance principle applies. I don’t know any coach in the world who hesitates to use the players who are the best in training,” he is quoted by ‘Bild’. On the other hand: In the first two league games, Werner didn’t even sit on the bench, it seems that Ole Werner is not planning with the striker so far.

Even a short-term departure of the top earner (ten million euros salary) would not be objected to in Leipzig, as Schäfer reports to ‘Bild’: “If something comes in, we are still willing to talk and solution-oriented.”

Should Werner still leave RB or continue to try to assert himself?
