FREEMAN, S.D. – The Hanson boys and Howard girls golf teams claimed team titles at the Cornbelt Conference golf tournament on Wednesday at Valley View Golf Course in Freeman.

The Beavers took home the boys title with a cumulative team score of 228, defeating second-place Freeman (240) by 12 strokes, followed by Howard (243) and Viborg-Hurley (261). The Tigers took first on the girls side with a top combined score of 272.

Hanson’s Will Jarding and Freeman’s Tannen Auch tied for the top score on the boys side after rounds of 74. Hanson’s Ben Wilber (75) followed suit in third, Howard’s Weston Remmers (77) came in fourth and Hanson’s AJ Wilber (79) was fifth. Other area top-10 finishers included Freeman’s Oliver Waltner (81) in seventh, Howard’s Rowen Kizer (82) tied for eighth and Howard’s Luke Koepsell (84) was tenth.

On the girls side, the Tigers occupied the top three spots. Halle Schultz (88) came in first, Kenya Kizer (90) finished second and Reese Rudenbusch (94) was third. Bridgewater-Emery’s Candice Stahl (99) came in fifth, Hanson’s Kendra Endorf (109) was seventh, Howard’s Adeline Halverson (111) was eighth and Bridgewater-Emery’s Ginny Zorr (112) was ninth.
