As reported by Fichajes, Hansi Flick has informed Barcelona’s top hierarchy including Joan Laporta and Deco to not sign a striker in the summer. The German coach believes in Robert Lewandowski and doesn’t want the club to waste resources unnecessarily.

Barcelona looking for Robert Lewandowski’s replacement

Barcelona have been linked with multiple strikers as they aim for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is in the twilight of his career. The list includes the likes of Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres, and Jonathan David.

It’s quite understandable as Lewandowski has slowed down in recent times. Though he has produced good numbers so far, it’s safe to say that he has been missing a lot of chances as well. As his form has dried up in recent weeks, his long-term continuity is under threat.

Hansi Flick wants to bolster other positions

Barcelona management have been scouting strikers to solve the issue for a long time. Out of all the options, one of Viktor Gyokeres and Jonathan David could’ve been a great choice. Given their solid performances and transfer costs.

However, manager Hansi Flick has asked his club to not waste efforts on a striker in the summer. The think-tank still believes in Robert Lewandowski despite the player nearing the 37 age mark. Moreover, they also have Ferran Torres for the concerned role.

Instead, Flick wants the Spanish outfit to bolster the full-back positions and bring quality wingers to strengthen the overall squad. Barcelona, who are heavily linked with Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz, might end up making an official bid for him in the summer. However, it will highly depend on whether they are able to generate good cash through sales or not.
