GTA 6 Might Finally Have A Proper Race Track

For a franchise so heavily centered around cars—mostly stealing them—it’s kind of surprising that we’ve never had a proper asphalt race track in a Grand Theft Auto game. But that could finally change with Grand Theft Auto 6.

A leaked map of Leonida, the fictional Florida-inspired state where the game takes place, recently showed up on Reddit. As our friends at The Drive and folks on Discord pointed out, it appears to show a dedicated asphalt race track.

If the map is legit, as it appears to be, this could be the first true road course in GTA history. The big question is: What real-world track is it based on? The track is reportedly called Port Gellhorn International Raceway, which doesn’t exactly give us many clues. But since GTA 6 takes place in Florida, there are a few obvious options.

We’re immediately ruling out Daytona, both because of its location and the simple fact that this clearly isn’t an oval. Sebring seems like the most obvious inspiration based on the track’s location, but even that isn’t a one-to-one recreation.

As YouTuber Saukko505 points out, there isn’t really a single real-world circuit that perfectly matches GTA’s fictional track. There are some obvious similarities to Sebring, but certain corners also appear to take inspiration from famous circuits around the world, including the Nürburgring and Monza.

GTA Has Never Really Had A Road Course

It’s worth reiterating just how cool this could be: Grand Theft Auto has never had a proper, dedicated asphalt road course comparable to Sebring, Road Atlanta, or Laguna Seca.

Sure, previous games have featured small ovals, dirt tracks, and a few makeshift routes. But this appears to be the first honest-to-goodness asphalt circuit built specifically for racing.

And the apparent track isn’t simply a loop dropped somewhere in the middle of Leonida. Analysis from online sleuths suggests it could be part of a larger motorsports complex, possibly with a drag strip and other racing activities.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard the name “Port Gellhorn.” The original 2022 GTA 6 leaks contained references to Gellhorn International Raceway in the game’s files, and in the second GTA 6 trailer, Lucia wears a shirt featuring what appears to be “Gellhorn International” branding.

None of this officially confirms that Port Gellhorn International Raceway will make it into the final game, let alone that it will look exactly like the version shown on the leaked map. But the evidence is getting pretty hard to ignore.

This Could Be A Big Deal For GTA’s Cars

Instead of turning a random stretch of highway into an improvised drag strip, a new track means that players would have somewhere specifically designed for high-speed driving. Don’t expect it to suddenly become a racing simulator, but if Rockstar has built a detailed road course, there’s no reason players shouldn’t be able to put the game’s cars through their paces.

Of course, the leaked map is still unofficial, and Rockstar hasn’t confirmed Port Gellhorn International Raceway or the exact configuration shown in the leak.

Fortunately, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer for more official information.

Rockstar is scheduled to release an extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6 on August 27, just one day after the latest map leak began circulating. The game itself is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026.

Motor1’s Take: If the track makes it into the final game, enthusiasts may have another reason to get excited about GTA 6 beyond stealing supercars and seeing how quickly they can make it across Vice City. It might finally give us somewhere to properly drive them.
